Two men who were stabbed on New Year's Eve in Edgewood both told police they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Police do not believe either stabbing was related to gang or drug activity.

A 21-year-old Baltimore man told police he was walking in the 1700 block of Meadowood Court around 10:40 p.m. Saturday, on his way to meet his cousin, when he noticed a large crowd of people, according to Monica Worrell, public information officer with the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

The man said he got caught in the middle of the dispute and sustained several cuts to his upper torso, according to Worrell.

Police spoke with the victim at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he sought treatment.

Police and Emergency medical personnel were then called to Harford Square Court in Edgewood after another reported stabbing, Worrell said.

The second man, a 31-year-old man with an address in the Courts of Harford Square neighborhood, said he was walking in the 1700 block of Meadowood Court around 11 p.m. when he too got caught in the middle of a fight between other people, Worrell said. He told police he was on his way back from the Mystik Mart on Hanson Road at the time.

The 31-year-old sustained several cuts to his torso and was taken by ambulance to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. His wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, according to Worrell.

"We're still in preliminary stages of investigation," Worrell said. "It does not appear to be gang or drug related. We are still investigating if the two incidents are related [to each other]."
