John Carroll School student Miranda Ripken scored her 1000th point Wednesday during the Patriots' game against Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore.
Ripken, a senior captain for the Patriots, was 6 for 6 from the free throw line in Wednesday's game. Two of those baskets pushed her career high over 1,000 in the fourth quarter, according to head basketball coach Mike Blizzard.
Blizzard quoted Miranda as saying, "I have to admit I was nervous, but now I feel relief that it is over. I am glad it is behind me now."
In addition to Miranda's personal accomplishment, the John Carroll Patriots beat the Institute of Notre Dame 60-36 for their 11th straight win.
The Patriots go into Thursday night's game against the Fallston Cougars with an 8-0 record in IAAM Conference play. Ripken will be honored at John Carroll before the 5:30 p.m. game.
