The opening of the Bel Air Sonic Drive-In has been pushed back for several days.
This is not the first time the eatery's opening has been delayed. The business was initially expected to open before the end of 2011, but a series of setbacks delayed construction and pushed the opening into 2012.
Joshi told Patch in November that BGE had not yet placed utility lines. By the time the matter of utility lines was resolved, the winter months had set in, causing further delay, he said.
Joshi said the building and canopy are completed and the next step is preparing the ground. "Everything’s pretty much done except for the asphalt," he said.
Employee training is expected to begin April 10 with a test run for family and friends of employees taking place in the days preceding the April 14 opening, Joshi said.
"I’m ready, because we have a couple of other stores, but this one here is in a better area," Joshi said, comparing growing Bel Air to the less populated area surrounding an Eastern Shore location.
