You could soon be able to watch a hometown baseball talent during nationally televised games.

Former C. Milton Wright pitcher Bradley Markey was drafted in the 35th of the Major League Baseball Professional draft by the New York Mets on June 6, according to his former coach and current Bel Air High School English teacher, Anthony Blackburn.

C. Milton Wright undefeated state championship baseball team, was named the mid-Florida conference Pitcher of the Year in April, according to Blackburn.

Blackburn wrote that during the young man's time at C. Milton Wright, he was a great athlete and also a great student and member of the National Honor Society.

"Not only is he one of the finest baseball players I ever coached, he is also one of the finest young men I have encountered in my time as an educator," Blackburn wrote in an email to Patch.

The Bel Air resident, who recently finished his sophomore year at Santa Fe Junior College in Gainesville, FL, has since signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Virginia Tech.

Markey has until July 13th to decide whether to attend Virginia Tech start his professional career with the New York Mets.
