Cal Ripken Jr. to Hold Bel Air Book Signing

Cal Ripken Jr. plans to appear at Barnes & Noble in Bel Air at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Harford County's National Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. has turned novelist, and will be signing his latest book, "Super-sized Slugger," in Bel Air Tuesday evening.

Along with Kevin Cowherd, sports columnist with the Baltimore Sun, Ripken has penned two novels in a series about young baseball players on the Orioles squad of the Dulaney Babe Ruth League, according to a release from Disney Publishing Worldwide.

Ripken will be at Barnes & Noble in Bel Air at 5 p.m. tonight (March 6) for a book signing.

Ripken was born in Havre de Grace and grew up in Aberdeen before he was drafted out of high school to play for the Baltimore Orioles. Ripken holds two MVP awards, scored 431 home runs, made 19 all-star appearances and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.

As Sean said, it was "posted" to the Patch site Tuesday afternoon. I saw it.

Unless Sean deems it "breaking news", there isn't an email blast to subscribers.

I guess the complainers don't understand the difference between a story that is posted on the site versus the daily newsletter.

So why even bother posting it today?

James,

It wasn't. Note the date listed March 6, 2012. And also what Sean said, it was posted Tuesday!

The newsletter was today. I think that is essentially a wrap-up of yesterdays postings. Maybe it shouldn't have been there, but I bet that is a pretty automatic process.

I agree, this isn't news when the newsletter's don't come out until the next day. Start doing things a day earlier then. I've noticed since Brad's been gone we aren't getting as much news as before and definitely NOT as timely.

If any of you didn't notice, it has been posted under the events page for weeks.
