CAPTION: Why Did the Duck Cross the Road?

Maryland Route 924 was held up by some oblivious birds recently.

No, it's fine. Please take your time. We don't have anywhere to go.

I was driving on Maryland Route 924 last week when the car in front of me came to a complete stop. With no traffic light, pedestrian or stop sign in sight, my first instinct was to lay on the horn.

Then I realized that the driver in front me had a heart. While I was steaming about the unexpected stop on my way into town, this person was waiting for a duck to cross the road.

I looked in the grass to the side of the road and saw three more ducks that had apparently just crossed Idlewild Road. Using the pool at my apartment is one thing, but holding up traffic? That's just fowl.

What caption can you come up with for these two photos?

There is an entire flock of geese that cross Wheel Road frequently. I saw a lady get out of her car today and chase them off the road so they wouldn't get hit. Earlier this summer, I saw a man drag a turtle off of Thomas Run Rd. Both situations resulted in applause from the surrounding cars! So nice to see citizens respecting the wildlife in Harford County!

We have stopped numerous times on 924 to let the geese cross. It does my heart good to see everyone sit there and watch as they cross the busy road. Anyone that gets upset at these kind of things should move to the city and they won't have to contend with wildlife crossing the road....at least the geese are unarmed!!!
