Censorship Group Targets CBS After Flacco’s F-Bomb
The Parents Television Council wants the network held accountable for not blocking the quarterback’s use of an expletive.
Joe Flacco’s foul language following the Baltimore Ravens’ Super Bowl win on Sunday night may put CBS, the network that televised the game, in hot water with the FCC, according to Politico.
Following the win, the team’s first championship in more than a decade, Flacco was caught repeatedly using an expletive that CBS wasn’t able to bleep out before it was broadcast into millions of homes.
The news website, which covers politics and government, reports that the Parents Television Council asked the commission to investigate why the network allowed the word to be broadcast.
The network has been in trouble with censors before.
CBS broadcast the Super Bowl in 2004 and aired singer Janet Jackson’s infamous "wardrobe malfunction."
The network was initially fined $550,000 by the FCC, but was cleared of the fine after an eight-year battle, according to Entertainment Weekly.

I don't blame either...it's common thing to say in an exciting moment and it's live television. Unless you ban live broadcast, things like this will be broadcasted. Some people need to get the f*ck over it

Agreed on the GoDaddy commercial and the one with the guy grinding with the nuts contained some innuendo as well. These censors need to watch the whole Superbowl.

What were their children doing up so late watching tv? Flacco was "caught" dropping the f bomb but it wasn't heard, only seen. So unless their children are lip readers and already know that word, I think their innocence is safe for just a little bit longer.

Its refreshing to see comments from people with their heads on strait. Its just a word and it was fairly late by kids school night standards. Hopefully Flacco doesnt get dragged across the coals for it...

Get over it! I'm sure there were some expletives said in my home during the Superbowl when the 49'ers put some points on the board following the lighting incident. If you are offended by what Flacco said.....don't watch football..... go and play Monopoly with your kids and teach them how to be greedy with "properties," and I highly recommend you never attend a football game...lots of expletives flying all over the place! You "good doers" take everything to an extreme which just bores the rest of us!

The Parents Council is worried about the kids hearing bad language, really? Stand in the hallway or cafeteria of just about any public school and listen to the profanity thrown around by students either directed at each other, and at their teachers. I think even the most liberal of our posters to this column would be taken aback. I don't think Flacco would deliberately use such language if he knew he was being recorded. He has too much class for that.

I think the real point here is not if the Parents Council is right or wrong, but the equal application of standards to everyone. If the godalmighty football heroes are allowed to curse on TV, then everyone should be. The networks still have the capability to delay and bleep if necessary. Personally, I would prefer so see more nude women on TV. But, somehow, that is deemed more offensive than images of violence, by the powers that be.

If there were children watching this telecast (way past normal bedtime) they probably already say it themselves. That word is no longer the "BAD" word that it was in my youth, today it is an adjective. Some of the stuff on TV is a whole lot worse than a word .. but I guess the Parents Council needs to have a reason to exsist so we have to listen to their rhetoric.

The kids heard it on TV rather then the school bus? WOW! we should just ban speaking as any word spoken at the wrong tome is going to offend somebody.
These kids have heard this word before - count on it!. So long as Flacco stays out of dog fighting I can accept a few F bombs.
For what it's worth it was an F'ing GREAT game. If not for the power outage the RAVENS were on a roll to make it a slaughter!
Next year we have to be supportive of the 'Vens - no more RAY!
