'Cupcake Wars' Winner May Open Cockeysville Store
Flavor Cupcakery, based in Bel Air, won a Food Network competition that aired on Sunday.
Watch out Vaccaro's, Cockeysville residents with a sweet tooth may have a new spot to get their sugar fix.
Flavor Cupcakery owner Shelley Stannard, who recently appeared on the Food Network program Cupcake Wars, might open a Cockeysville location in 2012.
"We're putting feelers out there," Stannard said. "We think there is a good market for cupcakes."
The Bel Air based cupcake bakery won $10,000 in the Cupcake Wars competition, which aired on Sunday.
"It was amazing and we did it because our customers kept asking us to," Stannard said. "Everybody is proud that our small local bakery was able to make it to the national level."
Stannard opened the Bel Air store in December of 2010, according to Bel Air Patch.
And the most challenging part about appearing on Food Network?
"Keeping the secret [about winning] for so long was brutal."

Great idea and Yes Cockeysville would be a great place for a cupcakes store.

Absolutely! We have enjoyed cupcakes from the Flavor Cupcakery and would love having a location much closer to home. Please come to Cockeysville!

They look yummy, but are very small cupcakes with lots and lots of sugary icing, and very, very expensive at $2.50 apiece. Two kids in tow, and you're spending $7.50 for 3 cupcakes, only about 2-3 bites apiece. Yikes!
