Dog Missing From Bel Air

Codie ran away when the fireworks started Wednesday.

While many Bel Air residents were busy enjoying the fireworks on July fourth, one furry friend was trying to escape the sound.

Around 8:30 p.m. Codie, a brown and beige Sheltie, was startled by the fireworks and ran away from the home on Cool Spring Road in Bel Air where he was staying, according to an email from Councilman "Cap'n" Jim McMahan.

Karen Dunbar explained she and her family were watching Codie while his family was out of the country in Europe, according to an email Dunbar wrote to Patch.

While the 10-15 pound dog has tags, those tags have the name and number of his owners and she is concerned Codie won't make his way back to them because of it.

"We are trying to contact everyone to see if they have found him," Dunbar wrote.

Dunbar asks anyone who sees Codie contact either her or Vince Dunbar at 410-893-5154 or 443-858-8330.

Have you seen this dog?

I also posted it on sheltienation. He is scared and these dogs do not go to strangers well. Keep posting signs and handing out his photo. He most likely is hiding and won't come out until he is hungry. Keep an eye out during feeding times. You may want to put out food for him. Odds are if chased he will run. You need to get him to chase you. They can stay within 3 miles of where they stop running. Each day out add an extra mile. These dogs are smart. Im sure he will make a quick safe return. We will keep looking!

Is there another Cool Spring Rd other than the one off of rte 136 in Churchville?

The dog ran from Cool Spring Rd, but where is the dog's actual home? He may be headed there.

I will help this to go viral in Harford, good luck!
