Cisco, a Bernese/Newfoundland mix, went missing this week after making a dash in the parking lot of Petsmart in Bel Air.

One Darlington man is doing everything he can to find his missing dog.

From posting on Facebook and Craigslist to visiting local shelters, law enforcement and even the post office, Joe LaSala has done it all.

The search began May 15 after a quick stop at Petsmart in Bel Air.

LaSala said he took his new dog Cisco, a Bermese Mountain Dog and Newfoundland mix, in his truck to Petsmart where he stopped to buy some dog food.

As LaSala loaded the food into the cab of his truck he had a sharp eye on Cisco, but the dog found an opportunity, made a run for the door and slipped through LaSala's grasp.

LaSala said later that day someone saw Cisco in the Jarrettsville area near Wargo's, but no one has seen hide nor hair of the dog since.

"We’re just trying to exhaust everything we possibly can to find him," LaSala said.

LaSala adopted the shy, but friendly Cisco from Operation Paws for Homes on May 11. While the dog was headed north at last sighting, LaSala finds it unlikely the dog will find his way to the new home.

In the mean time, LaSala said he has been back to Petsmart and the Harford Mall, giving security personnel a description of Cisco in case the dog circles back to the area.

"We’re just keeping our fingers crossed," LaSala said.

While the dog is shy, he is also described as friendly and enjoys American cheese as a treat.

LaSala asks anyone who sees Cisco to either call him at 410-457-5345 or
Karen Smith, 410-879-7784.

I saw this dog yesterday on Jarretsville Rd in the feild on the right just past Grafton Shop Rd. I know it was him. I slowed down to look at him because I was curious about him being out in the middle of the field. I didn't know he was lost till now. I hope he isn found.

Good luck he looks sweet! I will keep my eyes open. What a shame! Good for the owner for doing all he can to reunite with his furry child!

Yes! Cisco is home and well! My husband Joe and I are thrilled and feel blessed that our Cisco is back with us! We received a call last night from a young lady, Kristen, from Pylesville that she had Cisco! I couldn't believe it! I just burst into tears! Joe and I immediately met Kristen at intersection of 136 and Jarretsville pike and got our Cisco! We couldn't have imagined seeing him again without all the concerned persons whom we didn't know that contacted us and were looking out for him and giving us so many sightings, mostly were in Rock State Park! All we can say is a big thank-you from the bottom of our hearts for all of you who showed such compassion for our dear Cisco. We also don't want to forget the people who assisted my husband when Cisco got hit by the truck near PetSmart in Bel Air last Monday. My husband was very moved by all those people wanting to help! Unforturnately, Cisco jumped up after being hit and ran away! We also want to thank the Humane Society in Harford County who were so kind each time my husband called to see if they had any news regarding Cisco's whereabouts. Also the Animal Control personnel and Rock State Park Rangers and other employees of the Park who were also very kind and looked out for Cisco! Thank-you to the people of PAWS for their concern and help and to Cisco's foster Mom, Tammy in Virginia whom we adopted Cisco from.
