Trick-or-treating is slated to take place as scheduled in Bel Air tonight, and Patch wants to help everyone stay safe this holiday.
With safety and awareness in mind, Patch has created this map of Bel Air and Harford County's registered sex offenders, so you can choose whose door to knock on and whose not to—especially if your family is trick-or-treating in a new neighborhood, with friends or at Grandma's.
To check out your neighborhood, zoom in or out of the map above. Click on a flag to get specific addresses or consult the list here.
To find out more information about the people listed here, and to see photos, visit the county's list of registered sex offenders.

It looks as if it didn't post until AFTER 9we p.m. for us viewers. Look at the writer's name and the time next to it. (3:39 p.m.)

I had no idea there are so many in our area! Geez, looks like no where is safe. How sad but yes, could have been SUPER helpful. Still is though. Thanks for the post!

Hey, everyone, this was posted at 3:39 p.m. Wednesday. Unfortunately, Sandy knocked out our program that distributes email alerts, so it appears many of you got this later than you would have wanted. It was on the site in advance, but I can see how you might not have realized without the email. Really sorry as our NYC-based headquarters team is trying to hang in without access to our office all week. For what it's worth, email alerts (daily newsletters and breaking news) are back to normal.
Additionally, Kirsten was taking a much-deserved vacation the last few days, hence why she couldn't give this update herself. Just wanted to give more context as to why you may not have seen this sooner.
I hope everyone had a nice Halloween and is in relatively good shape after the storm passed through.

Also, can't help but wonder why the "subject line" says "Don't Trick or Treat in these
BEL AIR Homes"...which leads me to believe they are only concerned with the Bel Air children! What about kids in Joppa, Edgewood, Aberdeen, Havre de Grace, etc.? Are all our children not equally important? And then, why only have libraries open on Sundays in Fallston or Abingdon? What about the rest of the children?

Okay, first of all if you look at this map it's not just of Bel Air, it shows the sex offenders in all of Harford County. Second of all, if you are that concerned about it, the sex offender information is a matter of public record and you could look it up yourself. Thirdly, libraries have nothing to do with sex offenders or Halloween. Take that topic to a relevant thread or write a blog on it if it upsets you so much.

No idea why people, would, complain what time it went out. It was a courteousy to begin with and the sex offenders list has always been public so if anyone wanted to check their neighborhood at any time they can.

FYI - I have found that most of the time, the offender does not live at the address. It would be the last known, such as parents, etc. so not very dependable.

I'm looking at your "Don't Trick or Treat At These Homes". The map has my neighbor marked as one you should not go to. However you have the address as 118 Sherrill Drive. Because our addresses don't crisscross like normal addresses do, you have the wrong address. I'm the last place on the right. 804 he's the place right before me. No way is his house is 118. Plus you missed putting on that map a property. The one you left out is a sexual offender. I thank you for enlightening people where to avoid but please get it right.
