A firefighter was transported to a local hospital after suffering burns in a fire Saturday morning in Edgewood.

The fire took place in the 1200 block of Valley Leaf Court Saturday morning, and was under control in 20 minutes, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Fire and EMS Association.

Residents in the townhome were not injured, according to Gardiner.

Gardiner said smoke was showing when 60 firefighters from Joppa, Magnolia, Abingdon, APG Edgewood, Kingsville and Bel Air fire departments responded. Fallston Volunteer Fire Department transferred personnel to Joppa for standby.

A firefighter from Joppa was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for minor burns, Gardiner said.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the blaze, Gardiner said.
