Hopkins Will Seek Second Commissioner Term

Three candidates have entered this year's race so far.

At least one sitting commissioner will be defending his seat in this fall's Board of Commissioner's election. Edward Hopkins filed for candidacy Tuesday at Town Hall, according to Town Secretary Laura Stafford.

Susan Burdette also filed Tuesday, while Greg Adolph announced his candidacy earlier this month.

This year, four-year terms for Commissioners HopkinsTerence Hanley and Robert Reier expire. Reier has said he is undecided about running again. Hanley previously said he would run again, but would not comment recently in the midst of a pair of legal battles, one over a loan dispute and the other involving a theft allegation. Neither Hanley or Reier has filed for candidacy yet.

The filing deadline for the non-partisan election is Oct. 7. Candidates must be registered voters and have lived within town limits for at least six months prior to the election.

Town Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 7 to allow for late filing. There is a $25 fee. The election is scheduled for Nov. 8.

Residents can check their voter registration status by calling the Harford County Board of Elections at 410-638-3565.
