Festival, Surrounding Areas Have Power Restored

BGE workers said they fixed the outage around 9 a.m.

The Festival Shopping Center and its surrounding areas are no longer without power about 48 hours after Hurricane Irene ravaged Harford County.

Shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday, BGE workers "flipped the switch," returning power to one of Bel Air's busiest business areas, along with the corridor from Bright Oaks Drive to Wheel Road. Electric was also restored across Bel Air South Parkway, including lights at the intersection with Maryland Route 24, into the area where DuClaw, Bob Evans and Country Walk are located.

A BGE worker on scene said the fix is permanent.

"If it's on, it's on," the worker said.

They would have to bring power on line today and replenish the food in all of the schools. They should just make the decision and close until Tuesday - after the Labor Day Holiday.

Parts of Jarrettsville/Street are still without power. Come on BGE...going on day 3. There is a tree down on wires in the 1900 block of Jerrys rd that has gone untouched this entire time. I'm pretty disgusted.

The Bel Air Athletic Club has opened its doors to all local Harford County residents without power or water service. Please feel free to stop on by, take a shower, power up your electronic devices, cell phones etc and de-stress from a tough weekend.

Bull S$%&! I live less than a half mile from festival and the power definitely has not been restored. BGE's efforts in Harford County has been erratic at best, but more like pitiful. In general they have been outperformed by Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Virginia crews during this outage.
