Fire Strikes Bel Air Home, Quickly Controlled
An attic fire was reported in the 400 block of Hemingway Drive in Bel Air.
UPDATE (12:34 p.m. Monday)—A fire was reported through the roof of a Bel Air home Sunday night, and was controlled within 10 minutes, officials said.
Emergency crews responded to the 400 block of Hemingway Drive at about 8:15 p.m. About seven pieces of fire equipment and 45 crew members arrived on the scene, according to Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS spokesperson Dave Williams.
No injuries were reported, Williams said.
Fire officials attributed the cause of the blaze to a lightning strike, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.
No further details were immediately available.

OMG totally saw the lightening strike--there were 4 total I saw--that his this house last night. Glad everyone was safe and the fire put out quickly!

House fires are horrifying, period. The damage, both structural and psychological , should never be underestimated. Our house burned 15 months ago and we are still affected by the tragedy.

This is my fathers home and the house that I grew up in. We are so very grateful to God that dad was not home when the fire started. the fire fighters were AMAZiNG in every way!!! Our strong faith, phenomenal neighbors and friends are helping us deal with everything. Ridiculous and sad that thieves were caught scoping out the premises in the middle of the night in the midst of a tragedy. Thanks to all of u who have been so supportive! Marie

MVPHKR is a person who has been a member of a few fire company's in Harford County and alway's seemed to find trouble and get thrown out,maybe someday he will find something to do with his time.

Just off the top of my head, there was one in Forest Hill about a month ago and one (maybe two) in Fallston about a year ago. Both fires from what I saw were declared fully involved once they found out all occupants (not including pets) were out of the building despite the main building still being fully intact and barely touched by the flames. And yes, I was at 2 of the fires. It seems that fire companies are back to the turn of the century with a containment rather than extiguish policy

JJ, By turn of the century do you mean 1999? Which 2 fires were you involved with and did you respond to the scene as a firefighter or as a interested bystander? Fully intact and barely touched by flames, interesting opinion. Please tell us more?

I think it may be time to investigate why JJ was at the scene of these fires. Were they considered suspicious in nature?
