After a significant facelift, the former C-Mart in Forest Hill has a new purpose.
Gavigan's Furniture now fills the space located at 1503 Rock Spring Road. The business opened it's doors over the weekend, a store employee confirmed.
Today a handmade "come on in" sign was posted on the door and the banner announcing the business was on its way was taken down. In its place went a sign advertising the store's grand opening.
Gavigan's website also changed today, shifting from "Coming Soon" to a "Now Open" announcement.
Messages left for business management were not returned as of post time.
The building and parking lot show drastic improvement with a fresh paving and new facade.

Happy to see the much needed refurbishment. C-mart did well for so many years in that spot, even when this was considered "out in the country". Curious why a retailer didn't come sooner - price tag? Best news: it's not a pharmacy or bank! Best wishes, Gavigan's!

I appreciate that a company came in and refurbished an older building. Too many times, companies what to start fresh and teh community is left to look at run down, vacant buildings.

Very good point - Gavigans should be applauded for recyling instead of slash and burn retail construction (are you listening Walmart). I'm very serious about that - they get xtra points from me for doing the right thing. Place looks much better too.

Look up Gavigans - oh my lord and to my disbelief it's a chain, but it's a local chain. Locally owned and operated; there isn't much of that left. Indeed then by all means welcome them because these folks are our neighbors.
