GET OUT: Preakness, Greek Festival, Food Fight
Events for children, parents and families alike are all in the lineup this week. Go green while trying something new and exciting!
Tons of exciting events are on the agenda this week. The most well-known is the 136th Annual Preakness Stakes. Tickets are still available so buy them now!
There's even a children's event that gives parents a chance to relax. Check out this week's event at the Arena Club.
Where/When: Monday, 6:30 p.m. on the Harford Community College Student Center Patio
Why Go: See chef Christina from the Laurrapin Grille in Havre de Grace defend her culinary title against other Harford County chefs. All proceeds will benefit the AAUW Harford Cty Educational Fund. Where/When: Friday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday noon to 7 p.m. at Saints Mary Magdalene and Markella Greek Orthodox Church in Darlington.

When/Where: Saturday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church

Where/When: May 20, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the parking lot of the Harford County Government's Administration Building in Downtown Bel Air
Why Go: The rally will feature WXCY 103.7FM and will include a bike parade in Downtown Bel Air. There will also be a "Cycle Smackdown" competition where Harford county businesses and organizations will compete to get the most number of registrants from their company to bike to work. To participate, register on the website. Those who register will get a free t-shirt, light refreshments, a chance to win $200 gift certificate to a Bicycle Connection Express and other prizes. Where/When: May 21, 6:20 p.m. at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore
Why Go: Post time for the first race of the day will be 10:45 a.m. and the official Preakness Stakes race will post at 6:20 p.m. Infield performers include Bruno Mars, Train, Phil Vassar, Puddle of Mudd and Mr. Greengenes. Where/When: May 20, 10:30 a.m. at Barnes and Noble in Bel Air
Why Go: Who wouldn’t want to have story time with Clifford The Big Red Dog? Parents and children of all ages are invited to join. Don’t forget your camera!
Where/When: May 22, noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Anita C. Leight Estuary Center
Why Go: Teens, ages 14—18 are invited on a kayaking adventure where they will learn about Chesapeake Bay issues and they can make a difference in their own community. Pre-registration is required. Call 410-612-1688 or stop by the center to register.
