Girl Hospitalized After Lawn Mower Accident In Jarrettsville
The incident took place Sunday.
A 9-year-old girl was taken to a Baltimore hospital Sunday after a lawn mower ran over her foot, fire officials say.
Shortly before 12 p.m. Sunday, a lawn mower backed over the girl's foot in the 1300 block of Wiley Oak Drive in Jarrettsville, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.
The girl was taken by ambulance to John's Hopkins pediatric intensive care unit in Baltimore for treatment of the traumatic injury, according to Gardiner.

Power equipment and small kids do not mix. I can't tell you the times I see adults riding mowers or tractors with little kids in their laps. A sure recipe for an accident. Not sure if that's what happen here but hopefully she will be alright and everyone can. learn a lesson, do not let children on or around power equipment.

Accidents happen even when people are careful. Seems most important to focus on the quick recovery of the child and thoughts for the family regardless of how it happened.

I know the little girl and it was a freak accident. It was not that the child was riding on the tractor. We just ask for prayers to keep coming along. She is a strong little girl.

My heart goes out to the young lady - hope for a quick and complete recovery. May the dad be at peace too; he must be beating himself over this.

Kristen, have there been any updates on the girl's condition?
