Funnel Cloud Spotted in Harford County; Fire in Belcamp

Bel Air, Abingdon and Aberdeen got the worst of Sunday's 90-minute tornado warning.

UPDATE (7:09 p.m.)—The tornado warning issued for Harford County by the National Weather Service on Sunday has ended, but not before a possible funnel cloud hovered over Abingdon and Bel Air south.

Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association,  said that wires down have caused damage to a smoking shed in Belcamp. Firefighters are waiting for BGE to shut the power down in the area before taking action.

Maryland Route 543 is closed near Gibson Road and Chestnut Hill Road for downed trees. Trees are down in other areas throughout the county and the volunteer fire companies are experiencing a high volume of calls.

"A funnel cloud was reported by local emergency management in Abingdon near U.S. Interstate 95 and Maryland Route 924 around 4:45 p.m.," a statement from the National Weather Service read.
