The Bel Air Downtown Alliance is trying to give the community a big gift this year: your business.
"When you spend in your local community, nearly 70% of the money stays in the local community compared to less than 40% when you spend at a national retailer or 0% when you buy online," writes the group's executive director, Scott Walker, in a press release.
The booster organization's Holidays On Main provides "a variety of activities that will help" residents to spend locally, an effort that is also being promoted by a national campaign called Keep The Cheer Here.
Here is this week's event:
Thursday. Girls Night Out. 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Shops and boutiques will be open late. Several shops are donating 10 percent of sales to the Chesapeake Cancer Alliance and the Cancer LifeNet. Participating stores include: The Pink Silhouette, Hair Design, The Whitehouse Trading Co., Peace Yoga, Lavalier, HeartBeat, B. Fabulous and NVS Salon & Spa.
Stay with Bel Air Patch for a listing of future events.
