Irene Tears Down Trees in Bel Air, Across Harford

Hurricane Irene is expected to do the most damage in Maryland around 2 a.m.

Heavy winds are dropping trees and power lines throughout Harford County as approached Maryland .

At least five roads were closed just before midnight, with more damage expected by 2 a.m.

A tree branch about 2 feet in diameter came crashing down on Idlewild Road in downtown Bel Air in the above video. Three town Department of Public Works employees cleared the road with chainsaws around 11 p.m.

Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association, said there have been calls for about a half-dozen trees on houses across the county. At least one family was displaced and took shelter at .

The branch in the video closed Idlewild Road for a little more than an hour, but did not cause any damage.
