Jaws of Life Rescue on Baltimore Pike

Bel Air's parade route was blocked about two hours before the ceremony was set to begin.

UPDATE (5:21 p.m.)—One unidentified male was transported to the hospital Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle accident closed Bond Street at Baltimore Pike.

Marianne Celia, a 48-year-old Bel Air resident, said she was driving her silver SUV west on Baltimore Pike when the driver of a burnt orange Kia allegedly ran a red light. Celia said she struck the Kia and spun around in the intersection. The incident occurred at about 4 p.m.

The Kia, meanwhile, was on its side lodged against a steel pole at the corner . Firefighters cut the male from the car within 15 minutes. He was transported to .

Celia's 18-year-old daughter, Angelica, was also in the car. Both initially declined medical attention, but firefighters later called an ambulance for the women. Authorities have not confirmed whether they went to the hospital. Fire Chief Ricky Davis was urging the pair to go as a precaution.

Khadija Mitchell, a 20-year-old from Bel Air, said she walked away from the intersection moments before the Kia rolled over where she was going to sit.

"I sat my blanket down right here. Right here on this corner and I just turned away and I started walking to my car," Mitchell said. "I just heard it and I moved just in time."

Mary Donovan of Baltimore watched the incident unfold.

"A gold car was going south on 924. He ran a red light and the gray car t-boned—the gray car put him up against the pole," Donovan said. "I ran up to him. Told him to stay still, don't move."

personnel used the “Jaws of Life” to tear the roof off the Kia.

Marianne and Angelica Celia said they both had chest pains from the airbags, but did not think they were seriously injured.

"I'm just thanking God that I moved away in the right time," Mitchell said. "This is so nerveracking."
