So this lady thinks her own convenience should trump the wishes and opinions of her neighbors and the tenor of the neighborhood for generations to come. It's the scale of the big box store and the traffic it creates that gives her neighbors pause - it's already been established on infinitem that it's zoned for commercial use. Plus, there's already a Walmart 5 minutes down the road; hardly an inconvenience.

I'm a single mom as well, work odd hours, and have never been too lazy to drive 3 miles from Bright Oaks to Constant Friendship. You are entitled to your opinion, however; it is not one of the majority. If your raising your children in Bright Oaks, why would you want 'a lower-end store' in your neighborhood, as well as 10,000 more cars on the road? It really doesn;' boost the safety in our neighborhood does it?

Elizabeth as a mother I would think you would be more concerned about the safety and traffic in your neighborhood, than driving a few miles to the Walmart in Constant Friendship or Fallston.
You are entitled to your opinion but you are in the minority. Most of us are concerned with the traffic and our neighborhoods. Please rethink your opinion on having a Walmart right in the heart of our community.

Brace for the NIBY onslaught!

If Wal-Mart were not part of the cabal that has sent many US jobs overseas and breaks laws innumerable with regard to how it treats it's employees, while setting the pattern for others, such as Papa Johns, and Applebees to reduce employee wages to 30 hours and less I wouldn't be so opposed to them.

Wal-Mart has also been CONSTANTLY found to be guilty of forcing, under threat of firing, workers to work off the clock. They make a pretense of wanting to be a Good Social Neighbor, while pricing drugs below cost in neighborhood after neighborhood until the drug stores that exist are bankrupted. This too is illegal, but it's yet another law that goes unenforced due to our government that listens to and subsidizes the 1% of the wealthiest persons.

The State of Maryland, will end up providing health care, SNAP, and other benefits to many Wal-Mart employees. The State is already doing this. It's OUR money that makes up for the low pay of many minimum wage employees. This and other malfeasances of government is bankrupting people who work hard.

The State in some cases also pays up to 50% on intern programs for employees who go through the Maryland Workforce program. The people behind this movement as brazenly saying that they want US workers to work for Chinese wages. But we don't have a cost of living that the Chinese so.

We need fewer Wal-Marts.

Wow, they found the ONE person in Bel Air/Abingdon NOT opposed to the Walmart. I don't want my house value going down and traffic getting even more horrific because she won't drive 3 miles in either direction to go to either Abingdon or Fallston. Give me a break.

You all need to lighten up. Nobody ever wants another home or subdivision or a store next to them. Unless all of a sudden one of their children wants to move close by. Hypocrites. Go Walmart , Harford county can use the jobs

Why the heck does there need to be 3 Walmarts in a 10 miles radius? Knock down the Walmart in Abindgon...its dirty, hard to get in/out of and the traffic right there is horrendous.
2 Walmarts (Fallston and Aberdeen) are plenty. They are spaced far enough apart from each other but you dont have to travel 15 miles to get to one.
Do dont put another Walmart here...seriously...WHY the need for 3?

How many of you anti box store curmudgeons actually lived in this county when there was not one single store between Wheel Rd and Plumtree Rd to the West of what is now MD 924? How many of you NIMBY's moved into homes on soil that used to grow the produce and dairy that my family consumed while your family was still in Baltimore City or County, New Jersey, New York, Western PA, etc? We didn't raise holy hell when you came in and filled up our classrooms beyond capacity, clogged our roads, caused us to pay higher taxes for more emergency services, etc. We welcomed you for the most part, we had growing pains that we adapted to and learned to accept. The development envelope was put in place so that these kinds of businesses could exist in the NEW POPULATION CENTER that most of YOU NIMBYs created when you moved here from elsewhere. Suck it up like the rest of us did when you moved here. This county's population has more than doubled in 40 years. I got over the fact that we weren't rural anymore about 20 years ago, probably around the time most of your ticky-tacky little homes were just starting to pop up all along the farmland and woodland that used to dominate the area between I-95 and US 1. I can't wait for the ribbon cutting ceremony, just knowing that it will irk a bunch a people that couldn't point to Harford County on a map 20 some years ago.

Our small businesses are having a hard enough time staying afloat without another giant minimum wage store moving in. For every new job , 2 jobs will be lost. Traffic is horrible now, can't imagine the mess we will have if walmart moves in.

I never knew that Bright Oaks was the projects now, wow. My parents built a rancher there in 1972. As a kid, I rode my bike down 24(924 now) with no fear of traffic(there wasn't much) or some creep stealing me. I used to fish in all the ponds that are now under Festival. The 7-11 was the only store right nearby.

Guess what whiners, the Walmarts are here because of YOU. Massive population increase and building/ If people didn't shop there, they wouldn't build new stores. I bet most bitching here will shop there.

I lived in Harford County when there was only 924 & no 24 and I still don't think we need a Walmart in that location. It takes me longer to get from Glenwood Rd to Bel Air South Parkway than it takes me to get to the other side of the Town of Bel Air. The traffic is horrendous already & the last thing that we need is the amount of traffic that is generated by a store the size of WalMart. I could care less if it's Walmart or Saks 5th Avenue, if it has the potential to severly impact the traffice, which this does, then it needs to be in another location. There is already a Middle/High School, a new fire station, a nursing/assisted care facility and numerous other small businesses & too many traffic lights already & that is just in a 1 mile stretch! I could care less about Glen Angus vs Bright Oaks, NIBY or anything else trivial. I am concerned about the potential for an onslaught of traffic in an area that is already entirely too congested.

I find it interesting that people so oppose Wal-Mart but not the Med Star facility across the street.......Same issues but no one seems concerned with stopping that. Why?

I think people can express their ideas and feelings here until blue in the face but they'll be no impact as the decision to put Walmart there has most likely already been made by the powers that be....suck it up and shop there... Abington Walmart is old dirty and lacking and fallston is not an everyday drive

It is so very rare that anyone would want this mega store, nightmare traffic monster here that the Patch has to put the letter on its front page because it is real news. That says a lot about how wanted it would be.

Nothing more American than Walmart, Chevrolet and Busch Beer. I'm surely not opposed to the All American Mart moving into Bel Air selling guns, ammo and Ole Roy for my dogs. I am not going to reveal whether I am for or against this Walmart, but must say I am amazed and ashamed at the number of people who personally attacked the original poster with degrading comments about both her neighborhood and her person.

Walmart is a cancer. They will not be happy until there is one on every corner and you have no choice but to shop there. Are their prices low? Yes, because they don't pay fair wages or give their employees any benifits. Could you live on Wal Mart wages? Any jobs they bring will be low minimum wage jobs and will be off set by the closing of the other Wal Mart and the businesses that will close due to Wal Mart putting them out of bussiness. Wait until you see how many stores will be empty due to Wal Mart. People will lose good jobs and be forced to work for minimum wage and go on foodstamps and welfare which we the tax payers will pay for. There are enough options in the area and this store is not needed. It takes me 20 minutes to go three miles to Bel Air. I cant imagine what it will be like after this store is built. I do not shop at Wal Mart and never will. They will ruin the area.

Lucky 4 me my youngest child finishes HS in another year. I can then down size; rent and or sell my home. Im sorry for those who dont have that choice. Those that assume that we have only lived here a short time should not assume. This is my 3rd home in HA CO. U R right in saying that we have no say in the matter in reference to anything these days. Where was all this opposition of the Abingdon Wal Mart or even the ongoing over development of the county? This is not about traffic or safety it's about Wal Mart. It's about who not what.
