Marlin & Rays Set To Open Oct. 3

The restaurant replaced the Ruby Tuesday located at 539 Baltimore Pike.

A new restaurant will open its doors in Bel Air next week.

Marilin & Rays is slated to open Oct. 3, according to Claire Tucker, assistant account executive with PR firm Bullfrog & Baum.

The new restaurant offers a variety of seafood as well as "adult slushies," Tucker wrote in an email to Patch Tuesday.

The restaurant, located at 539 Baltimore Pike, fills the space left vacant by Ruby Tuesday.

Marlin & Rays guest services manager, Sam Parker, said in a previous interview that the Ruby Tuesday and Marlin & Rays chains have the same owner and closing the Ruby Tuesday was a step toward balancing the number of both chain locations.

What really turns me off about this restaurant is the fact that they waited to officially announce to the former employees of Ruby Tuesday that they were closing 2 days after it had already happened! And the fact that even though they are owned by the same company chose not to keep any of the staff. Way to treat your employees...wishing them no success!

Grace, I too was thinking it was horrible that the co. didn't retain their staff for the transition into a Marlin& Rays. Although I did surmise that it probably had to do with not wanting to pay their staff during the renovation... if they fired them, the former employees could either find a new job or file for unemployment. Or then they could reapply. You reap what you sow. I won't be patronizing them. Additionally, I always think it is ludacris to open a seafood chain restaurant in a state like Maryland which is a mid-ATLANTIC state. Seafood chains should save their restaurants for the landlocked likes of Iowa, Indiana and Kansas...

What this town needs...is another terrible chain restaurant. It looks like a smurf hut and I'm sure the food is prepackaged and frozen like every other big restaurant in Bel Air.

Ruby Tuesdays was actually my favorite restuarant out of the hundreds that there are in the county....and now I have to go to White Marsh!! That will next to never happen since I hate going to White Marsh Mall!!
So, you not only lost a very good customer who went to Ruby Tuesdays at least 3 times a month but you lost a customer for good!! Way to go.....and since I've found that I love, love, love Famous Dave's.......you won't see me at this new place!!!!

I think Wendy is right, as well. They should have made it another bank. Bel Air doesn't have enough banks! Lol If it was gonna be a chain, they should've at least made it a chain that everyone knows and, statistically, enjoys!
