McDonald's To Become Hickory Dairy Queen's New Neighbor

The fast food joint will soon have a new location in Hickory.

Dairy Queen is gaining McDonald's as a neighbor, with a new Hickory location currently under construction next door to the ice cream shop.

The site at 1502 Conowingo Road, at the intersection of Conowingo Road and the Hickory Bypass, shows signs of change.

A building permit has been issued by the county and S. Thomas Contracting, a Fallston based excavation company in charge of developing the site, confirms the McDonald's is currently under construction.

Do you think a McDonald's at this location will serve the community well? Why or why not? Leave a comment.

As long as they extend Bynum Road across Water Tower Way for a back entrance, this should improve access to the shopping center, especially from the bypass.

i happen to know the franchise owner, and i know people will go there before they go to rock springs, his stores are known for being the cleanest and and most well run stores around. rock springs and most others in belair are corporate stores and do not live up to the high standards this owner has welcome mcdonalds thanks for the jobs you will bring

Great. The smell of McD mixing with the smell from Seasons should make for a fragrant fall. Dislike

This will be GREAT!!! And I agree with Territory I know this owner I hate going to the Rock Springs store the staff is rude at best and the store is fairly dirty looking almost all the time. Even though I live closer to the Rock Spring store I will try to go to Fallston or Churchville stores first

Perfect...just perfect. With all these fast food stores maybe they can reach a point where you don't even have to stop for food. They could like require you leave the window open and throw the food at you in little baseball like containers. That's so personal and awesome - everybody say yes.

We don't need anymore fast food, gas stations, or pharmacies. How about a health food fast food. Give options of vegan and gluten free. Harford county needs to start addressing the poor health and not making it worse.

No more McDs!! LoL. I think that is so dumb when there is one in Rockspring. Sonic should have jumped on that spot and put one of their establishments further north like Chik-Fil-A did.

Seriously?? And I just had a conversation with my kiddos about eating healthy and WHY we need to make good choices with our food. Another McD's is not the answer. Thank the Lord that Chick Fil A moved into Forest Hill (not that their food is THAT much bettter mind you!) oh well! :)

Doesn't make any sense to me with one already on Red Pump Road. That corner is so congested with traffice already. Trying to cross Rt 1 coming out of that shopping center at certain times of the day is taking your life in your hands. I guess it's no worse the BK opening near Redners and having one on the corner of 543 and rt 22.

This is great news. I won't have to drive so far to get to the nearest McDonalds. More progress for Harford.

We do not need more crappy fast food. We do need healthier choices. I agree with Blue Starmom. As a gluten free vegetarian trying to raise a healthy child, I would love to see a vegan restaurant in Harford County. We need to get with the times.

If the area would support a vegan restaurant, someone would open one. If this McDonald's is successful, then it would turn out to have been a good idea to locate a store there. That's the way the free market (as free as Annapolis and DC allow it to be) works.

Yet another place I will pass by out of Hickory. That along with the new Royal Farms just give me another place to watch out for traffic.I am hoping that Baja Fresh will come back to the area near here, actually quite a good for healthy food.Mcdonald's besides having bad food also has bad customers, hyper and loud.

What we need for a healthier option is a Cosi. Awesome food and voted best healthy fast food several years ago. I only know of one down in Baltimore. Now I'm craving their signature salad and freshly made flatbread!
