O, How Sweet It Is
The Orioles have the best record in baseball. Do you care?

The Orioles have the best record in baseball.
OK, let that sink in for a second.
After defeating the Red Sox in 17 innings Sunday in one of the wackiest games in recent memory, the Orioles return home Monday to host the defending American League Champion Texas Rangers.
First pitch is 7:05 p.m. at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Tickets are still available to see Brian Matusz and the Birds try to continue their winning ways.
So the question I ask you: do you care?
Will there be a buzz at the ballpark tonight? Or will the team struggle to reach half-capacity at the beautiful baseball cathedral like it has for the better part of 14 consecutive losing seasons?
The 19-9 Orioles return home on a high—with the best record in the majors. They just swept the Red Sox at Fenway Park after winning two-of-three against the Yankees in the Bronx. They're playing a club that has represented the American League well in the postseason in each of the last two Octobers.
Are you wearing orange today?
Have the Orioles become a topic of water cooler conversation this May at your workplace like the Ravens in the fall and winter?
TELL US: How do you feel about the Orioles hot start to the 2012 season? Is this another "Why Not?" season like 1989? Or another thrilling start to be followed by a collosal crash like 2005? Leave a comment.

For some reason, this has a "Why Not?" feeling written all over it. My expectations for this season were so low, much like they were in 1989 following the dreadful 1988 season. I forgot how much I enjoyed baseball after 14 years of losing. Here's hoping Orioles Magic is back in Baltimore.

Yesterday's game started at 1:05, right after the Towsontown Spring Festival officially opened for the day. Around 7, we finished packing everything up from our tent and my editor, Doug Donovan, and I headed over to El Rodeo on Allegheny to catch the final outs.
The fact that the game was still going was absurd. The fact that Chris Davis was the winning pitcher was absurd. Everything about this year so far has been absurd. And I love it. The last time this team had a season worth paying attention to (save for 2005), I was in fourth grade. I'm ready to watch this team win.

I knew this would happen after giving up our season tickets after 22 years.

Feeling great about the O's, our pitching and young core of good players are playing spetacular baseball. Buck keep up the good work they love playing for you. Credit goes out to Andy and Dan for making some good choices. Hope our draft this year is as good as our last one. Lv Them "O" s...Bob Dorsey

Let's all hope they end up not being "all show and no go", the O's have a bad habit of doing great, then when you get all excited, they start failing. I hope this year they make it all the way

This is Buck"s 2nd full year as manager. Everywhere he has managed his 2nd year was his breakout year and from there he never looked back. Here's hoping this is a continuation of Buck's streak.
I think I'll say it....Why Not, 2012! Go O's!

What people shouldn't do is talk about what might happen. Let's talk about what has happened because that's what we know about. What has happened has been fun and we are enjoying it. The bullpen looks better than any I have seen in a long long time. The starting pitching is decent. Right there they should stay competitive.

Who knows what the future holds? But it sure is fun watching them win some great games so far this young season.

I saw a blog that pointed out that the Orioles were 19-9 in 2005. This time 'round, you've got a lot of younger players with something to prove. Then, you had a lot of old guys, plus Palmeiro's defiant finger-pointing at members of Congress. This will definitely be a better year than 2005.
Let's just hope this nonsense with Tejada proves to be ... well, nonsense.

Let's see ... 29 games into a 162 game schedule and people are starting to say that the team is good? Say that again after the All-Star break and the O's are in the Wild Card chase AND haven't imploded then MAYBE it could be real.

It takes a patient person to watch baseball. It's too slow of a game. But I might watch if they had a Wild Bill Hagy!
