Pedestrian Dead After Bel Air Accident
Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
UPDATE (12:06 a.m.)— One man is dead after being hit by a car Friday morning in Bel Air, according to Maryland State Police.
The victim, Michael Francis Gist, 23, of Jarrettsville, was struck around 5:23 a.m, state police said.
Police said he was in Route 924 near James Avenue when he was struck, according to state police and Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.
Tina Louise Holland, 37, of Forest Hill, was traveling southbound on Route 924 in a 2003 Kia Sonoma and told state police that she did not see the man and drove over him, police said.
Alcohol may have been a factor in the accident on the part of the victim. Investigators at the scene reported detecting a strong odor of alcohol from the victim, according to state police.
The road was closed for about three hours while police investigated the accident.
