UPDATED (Friday, 9:24 a.m.)—An Edgewood man is in stable condition after being hit by a car Thursday not far from his home.
Around 6:39 p.m. Myles Daye Murphy, 22, of the 800 block West Spring Meadow Court in Edgewood was hit by a 2002 Ford Explorer in the area of Hanson Road and Woodbridge Center Way in Edgewood, according to Edward Hopkins, spokesman for the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were told Murphy ran in front of the SUV, driven by a 32-year-old Edgewood woman. Police said Murphy was on his way from the Woodbridge Valley community towards the Harford Square community across Hanson Road.
The driver swerved, but couldn't avoid hitting Murphy, according to Hopkins.
Murphy was transported by medevac helicopter to a regional trauma center for treatment. He was in critical condition Thursday night, according to Hopkins.
His condition was upgraded overnight to stable, Hopkins said in an email Friday morning. He remained at Maryland Shock Trauma.
Deputies have preliminarily ruled the accident as Murphy's fault and no charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
