Police Take Down Drug Ring; Body of Missing Girl Found

Charges were filed in CVS robberies while the town commissioners approved Bel Air's budget, plus arrests were made in another robbery.

 

This week in Harford County, the sheriff's office took down an expansive drug ring while the body of a girl missing from Baltimore since December was found in the Susquehanna River.

1. Gus's Deli Owner Among 14 Arrested in Drug Bust

An undercover drug investigation by the Harford County Sheriff's Office has resulted in the arrests of 14 suspects, including an owner/general manager of Gus's Deli. Police collected more than 3,000 pills valued at about $90,000, along with cocaine, marijuana, steroids, 19 firearms, 10 vehicles and $30,000 cash in the raid. Ten of the 14 suspects are Harford County residents.

2. Female Body Found in Susquehanna River Wednesday is Teen Missing from Baltimore

One of the two bodies found in the Susquehanna River has been identified as that of Phylicia Barnes, according to authorities. Barnes had been missing from Baltimore since Dec. 28 while visiting from North Carolina. The police have said that this puts the investigation into a "new place," but the authorities would not speculate on perpetrators.

3. 2 Men Suspected of Robbing CVS Charged

The two men arrested after the April 6 and Dec. 15 robberies of the CVS on Churchville Road are facing charges of robbery, armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and theft between $10,000 and $100,000. The two men were arrested April 12 when the police exercised search warrants at each man's home.

4. Commissioners Approve Bel Air Town Budget

Bel Air's budget for the fiscal year beginning on July 1 was unanimously approved on April 19.

5. 2 Men Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Ford Truck, Diamond Ring in Belcamp

Two men from Edgewood and Aberdeen were arrested for allegedly taking a Ford pickup truck and stealing from nine other vehicles. GPS devices, a gold diamond ring, an air compressor, iPods, cell phones, a subwoofer and a bottle of Naproxen were all allegedly stolen, and both suspects face a litany of charges.
