Box Hill Pizza is in Abingdon, not Bel Air, isn't it?
Andy Eisner
11:15 am on Monday, March 26, 2012
@ Jennifer, yes Box Hill Pizza is in Abingdon, however there are a few of places on the list that are not in Bel Air like Tamberino's Pizza & Subs (Hickory) and Manny's (Rock Springs). So it would be only fair to add Wargos and Box Hill Pizza

Any sandwich at Savona is awesome. My personal favorites are the Main Street Muffeletto (not sure of the spelling on that one) and the Lombardia.

I agree Savonas is really good. The downside are their hours. I barely get to go there cause they're only open while I'm at work. Closed Sundays and only open til 4 on Saturdays :(

Tamberino's is definitely the best! Their subs are GIGANTIC and a great value. Fast carryout too. Hmm...might be on the menu for dinner tonight :)

NY Deli has a killer Reuben.
Tamberino's is great and the subs are large but they are also a little pricey.
I just had the worst sandwich recently from Fritzies. I won't go back there anytime soon.

Yeah, this is a shill. What a joke. Gus's? The crappy convenience store that replaced wawa? Are you kidding me? Carried Away Gourmet, Savona, heck even the bars have better sandwiches than that place. Plus look at these posts with people being so over the top "THE STAFF IS SO FRIENDLY, IN THE HEART OF BEL AIR CAN YOU BELIEVE IT". What a joke.

It is such a shame to see places like Subway, Panera and TGI Fridays on a list like this. Support local business!! It does wonders for the economy. Not to mention you can't get the personal service that you get at places like Little NY or Open Door. And the food is amazing.
Richard Smith
1:07 pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2012
If someone really feels that Panera or Subway or Fridays has the best sandwich, then what is wrong with then picking them.
Local does not equal better just as much as a chain does not equal crap?
Emily
2:09 pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2012
I never said the food at any chain was "crap". And you are certainly right that everyone is entitled to an opinion. I was merely making a point that Bel Air has some great local businesses.
Richard Smith
1:11 pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2012
Personally I would prefer a chicken cheesesteak sub from Tamberinos.
Richard Smith
2:16 pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2012
And remember some chains are actually locally owned franchisees.

This absolutely is a rigged vote going on here....Place is pretty empty every time I ride by, which is often. I don't like this kind of manipulation, so here is one who will never patronize Gus's.

I would like to manipulate you with a free colossal lump crab cake. I'll put my money where my mouth is. Best in town....maybe in Maryland. I always love a challenge . You man enough to take the challenge. Or you going to let your pride stand in the way of the best crab cake you ever ate? By the way........this is Gus

@ PurpleNeons not sure when you go by there but let me tell you that place is always hopping, you must go by at there slow time.
I myself love Gus's Crab Cake and it is the only place where I get my crab cakes, also the crab dip pizza is awesome also. I would take Gus up on the challenge.

I stick by my comments, this vote is absolutely positively manipulated. I will never step inside the business of an unscrupulous dishonest business that resorts to cheap internet manipulation as a marketing tool. Take your lousy crab cake and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Posting a link to a consumer poll is not manipulation. You need a dictionary. There is no way to manipulate this as it goes by IP address, so unless someone from gus's went to 709 different computers to vote it cannot be manipulated. I put links to the patch on facebook all of the time. Am I manipulating my friends into clicking on the link and reading what I offer?

@purpleneons, you are a bitter person, and honestly an a!!hole. Gus Sikalis is a good man, honest and hardworking. Nothing is manipulated or dishonest, except maybe you're comments. Do everyone a favor and go eat where you want, I'm sure Gus don't need or want you're money, and we wouldn't want to have to eat our food around a nimrod like you. Notice I use my real name and don't hide behind a fictitious one. And for the record, the Sikalis family has been in the food and catering business for well over 40 years and their famous crab cake has been a favorite since the day's of the Golden Forty Rest

NikiMo, only if you set it up that way. Somehow I don't think what Kristen had in mind was to create a flame war over a sandwich. Pretty funny though how wound up folks are... Kristen, put a fake place in your list and I'll bet I can get it 10,000 votes in a day with NO HACKING or dupilcate IP addressing. Just sayin... Oh, and everybody enjoy your lunch! :-)

I agree! Some of us can't enjoy a friendly competition! I just want everyone to know that my father has poured his heart into everything he makes and if it sucks he wants you to let him know. He will give you your money back and do whatever possible to get you to try again. He has been in business for over 30 years now so something must be right!

The tomato and mozz sandwich with olive oil and basil at Savona on Main St in Bel Air is delicious. Perfect, especially when paired with a can or bottle of sparkling lemon or orange Pellogrino water. So, so good.

I know they are not in Bel Air but Hickory Station has the BEST sandwiches anywhere! Their bread is always fresh and you will not be disappointed in anything you order from them. The chicken salad is to die for! Check them out! They are located right next to Dairy Queen.
