School Bus Accident Traps Car Driver
No students were on board when a school bus and a passenger car collided on Route 7 in Abingdon Tuesday morning.
One person was trapped in their car and traffic along Abingdon Road was redirected Tuesday morning following an accident involving a car and a school bus.
Around 8:47 a.m. a Harford County school bus, vacant except for the driver, was driving along Maryland Route 7 in Abingdon between Maryland Route 136 and Abingdon Road, said Monica Worrell, public information officer with the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
A car travelling the opposite direction on Maryland Route 7 crossed the center line and hit the bus, Worrell said.
Two people were inside the passenger car and one was trapped inside following the accident. That person was extricated from the vehicle by 9:30 a.m., said Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Fire and EMS Association.
A Medevac helicopter was on its way at 10:32 a.m. to transport the patient, Gardiner said.
The condition of the patient is unknown.
