The Bel Air Sonic Drive-In is expected to open in April, and a sign announcing the coming attraction sits on the property where the business will be.

The property on Maryland Route 924 next to Walgreens and near the intersection of Plumtree Road was cleared and leveled last year.

The business was initially expected to open before 2011 came to a close, but a series of setbacks prevented that from happening, owner Rick Joshi told Patch.

Joshi told Patch in November that construction had been delayed because BGE had not placed utility lines. Three days after Christmas, Joshi said the issue of utility lines had been resolved and the business was on target to open in April.
