In my opinion, not enforcing the death penalty removes the biggest deterrant we have against violent crime, simply going to prison even for life is no big deal for violent criminals, it is like a paid vacation for them with free lodging, meals, medical care. It is also very frustrating to read of all the murders and crimes in Baltimore where the defendents have committed the same violent crimes a dozen times and are still out on the street, no wonder no one wants to testify against them because they will most likely be back on the street to harm or kill the witness. Our law makers and judges need to do a hell of a lot better job in enforcing our laws and or creating new laws to prevent these criminals from rejoining and committing more injury to the citizens of Maryland. And when beyond a reasonable doubt, carry out the death penalty.

This is a sad, sick story and we must remember that Pat's family and friends are grieving. It is not easy to see ppl actually defending this guy for the murder of a defenseless man. If you can't keep in mind that family and friends are reading these post and you have no sympathy for their feelings then don't post anything. I pray that his family will eventually heal and will see justice served for this sickening act of violence!

I did not know either the victim or the perpetrator, but I'm appalled nonetheless. I grew up in Harford County, different towns and areas, but mostly Edgewood. This tragic event and many other tragic events that take place everyday seem to be on the rise. But from the outside, I look at the culture of only a few decades ago, versus today, and see a complete lack of self esteem. Mark, you are absolutely right. Liberals created the "plantation" of welfare recipients starting in the 1930s to build a base of welfare-dependent voters for Democrat candidates. Until the 1980s, women could not get welfare if a male lived in the household, so any man who might take the role of a father for children was banned. (The rule was known as "man assuming the role of spouse" - MARS) It worked beautifully for the Dems, but it destroyed the black family. What we now have is millions of fatherless kids wandering the streets without direction or any care and attention from adults. This kind of brutal crime is the result. Why would kids care about anyone if no adult cares about them? This does not absolve the perpetrator of this horrible crime, but it does explain how we got to this point.

After 25 years of living in neighborhoods that gradually went downhill, five years ago we moved to a predominately white neighborhood. You know what? We absolutely love it here! You can spend your life "cleaning it up" and cleaning it up and cleaning it up...we were so tired of the low lifes that moved into the "hood". They trashed their rental homes, threw garbage on our neatly kept lawn and house, parked in our driveway and cussed us out for objecting. the list goes on and on. Quality of life is vital when you're approaching the age of 60 and just want peace and quiet, and a little respect. Our neighbors have invited us over for BBQ's, we speak every time, we watch our homes, kept our properties up and respect one another. If I'm an Uncle Tom then so be it! The facility is in Swanton, about 25 miles southwest of Frostburg.Lewis said Graham was being held there for a probation violation.The deputy state’s attorney added that Graham admitted to killing Ward when the suspect was arrested at his home Friday, about 100 yards from where the murder took place. Lewis said police found a pair of bloody pants and a knife outside Graham’s apartment.Cooper said Monday the suspect would face the death penalty.

Patrick was a very nice man and came into my work a lot. I talked to him all of the time he was so sweet.. he was so excited to graduate and was always happy and polite and smiling, it seemed like even after everything he went through he still had faith. when I heard about this I got really upset and angry and disgusted someone could do that to such a wonderful person... He didn't deserve any of this. Rip
