You don't climb to the top of a building "in the blink of an eye".

When a fire department responds to the most popular playground in Harford County, people would like to know why. It shouldn't be blown out of proportion either way. It was originally posted with even LESS information by the Harford Fire Blog on FaceBook. The Patch is simply passing it along.

Why do people think they have control over what's allowed to be posted on the internet. This article is fine. It's information (probably as much as she had) about a call that went out to a volunteer fire department. The problem is not the article, the problem is people's general inability to handle someone making a comment they don't like. Who cares that someone said something negative about a teenager or their parents. Literally no one that posted above knows exactly what happened. Special needs, fully capable teen, bad parents, bad camp staff, fast climbers, teleporters.... who knows how fast they got up there? Who knows why they couldn't get down? Its a story. It should stay up, and everyone should get over it.

SnakeSkin, I have heard the same rumors about a special needs child being involved, but at this point I have no confirmation of that.

Wait. SnakeSkin, I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what part makes no sense. Are you accusing me of throwing a kid under the bus? I'm not advocating the comments above mine, but there is a generally accepted amendment to the constitution that allows people to have and state their opinions. If you'd like to offer counter-argument to those comments, then you're welcome to it. But to request the article be taken down because commenters can't control themselves is completely ridiculous.

I did read. I read the article. I read each comment above your own. I read your comment, and I made my reply. You're most recent post is completely proving my point. What if the story is that the Bel Air VFD responded to a call where able-bodied teens were stuck on the roof? What if that IS the story. You're saying that the story should be removed? And Why? Because of the commenters? And you are actually 100% wrong. Because of the way this page is set up, the internet is set up, and this country is set up, people absolutely have the right to post whatever they want based on whatever facts they do or don't have. And that's my original point. The fact that you don't like it doesn't mean the story should be removed.

So you're not only making the assumption that I have no experience with special needs children (which, for the record, would be inaccurate), but you're also assuming that my argument is that people should be allowed to bash special needs children. The problem is that neither I, nor anyone else, bashed them. Some said that capable teens would be a waste of an emergency call. Others said that special-needs caretakers should be been more attentive. No one suggested that special-needs children are in the wrong. My argument is that you are wrong in requesting the page be removed from the site. You're selectively reading and making a lot of assumptions. Another assumption you're making is that I'm trying to win a debate, when, in fact, I'm completely unconcerned with being dubbed a winner or loser. I'm simply exercising my right to post whatever I'd like to say on this comment thread.
