Tornado Confirmed in Jarrettsville

Friday's storm produced a low-end tornado.

 

A tornado touched down in Jarrettsville Friday leaving about a mile of damage in its wake, the National Weather Service has confirmed.

Friday's storms produced a tornado with a rating of zero on the Enhanced Fujita scale, according to a story on The Baltimore Sun website.

The tornado produced winds of up to 80 mph and about a one-and-a-half mile path of destruction, the story states.

Harford County residents were put on alert Friday evening shortly before 7 p.m. when the weather service issued a tornado warning for the county.

The warning was issued when a thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was spotted seven miles southwest of Jarrettsville, according to the National Weather Service in Baltimore.
