Woman's Husband Missing for a Week

There were "no signs of foul play or a struggle" at the man's home, police said in a statement.

UPDATE (Thursday 4:16 p.m.)—A 52-year-old Baldwin man has been missing for a week, according to a release from Maryland State Police.

Michael Diffenderffer, 52, of the 12000 block of Fork Road, was last seen around 2:15 p.m. Oct. 5, his wife told police. Diffenderffer is about 6-foot-2 and weighs around 235 pounds. Police believe he is driving a 2005 Acura MDX SUV, which has not been located. The license plate tag is 19469M4.

The Baltimore County resident wrote his wife a note Oct. 5 saying he would be home for dinner. When he did not return, she reported him missing to the state police Bel Air Barrack just before midnight.

"He is known to visit park areas in Harford and Baltimore counties, as well as Western Maryland. Searches of those areas have been conducted by Maryland State Police helicopters, but have so far been unsuccessful," the statement read. "Police departments throughout the East Coast have been notified and are on the lookout for him."

Police added that there were "no signs of foul play or a struggle" at the couple's home.

After speaking with "numerous relatives and friends," state troopers say they don't know why Diffenderffer has gone missing.

Residents with information should call the state police Bel Air Barrack at 410-879-2101.

Has LE looked as his cell phone pings (if he had a cell phone with him)?
Has LE looked into a money trail (use of credit cards/atms, large withdraw just prior to disappearing)?
Has LE had the FBI Cyber Crimes Unit look into his hard drive?
History of disappearing prior?
History of depression/suicidal idealizations?
History of drug abuse?
History of excessive gambling?
There are many avenues that should be explored by the family if they do not feel law enforcement is doing enough.

Sorry to be so blunt, but there is very little info. I hope and pray for the family that this gentleman is okay and is found shortly.
