The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company announces that Eddie Hopkins has been elected as the new Chief of Department, effective December 10th for the year 2011-2012. Chief Hopkins brings with him 38 years of experience in public safety which work in all fields; fire, EMS, law enforcement and emergency management. He is both a past President and Past Assistant Chief of the Bel Air VFC.
Currently Chief Hopkins is the Director of External Affairs with the Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and serves as a Commissioner for the Town of Bel Air where he holds the position of Mayor.
The Bel Air VFC wishes Chief Hopkins the best of luck in his new position and extends its many thanks to outgoing Chief Bill Snyder for his hard work and dedication to the company and the citizens of Bel Air and Harford County. Chief Snyder will continue as the 2nd Assistant Chief for 2011-2012.
