BLOG: Fire Department Training at Vacant BBT Bank Building

On Saturday February 18th from 9am until 4pm the Bel Air Vol Fire Company will conduct a large scale training exercise at the vacant BBT Bank building at 37 North Main Street in Bel Air. Firefighters will be conducting search and rescue evolutions, rapid intervention evolutions, ventilation evolutions, forcible entry work, ladder work and hose line advancement. Much of this will be done in simulated smoke conditions thus allowing for more realistic scenarios. All evolutions are done under highly regulated and strictly controlled working conditions.

If you are out and about that day take the time to stop by and watch this training event. This will give you the opportunity to observe and witness what firefighters endure, physically and mentally at the scene of a fire emergency. Feel free to ask questions and learn a bit more about what these people do.

Firefighters, police, EMT's... they are our hometown hero's. I fully supprt and appreciate our military, but all too often, our at home hero's seem to go well under appreciated. Thank you for all that you do!

I do have a bit of bad news for those looking to visit on the 18th. The drill has been cancelled due to circumstances outside the fire departments control and unfortunately it will not be rescheduled.
