1. Local Dad: 'We’ll Never Be the Same, For Something as Simple as a Text’
For the Hurd family in Abingdon, the new cellphone law that will go into effect on Oct. 1 is a personal victory after a terrible tragedy. Russell Hurd’s daughter, Heather, was killed by a distracted driver on Jan. 3, 2008.

2. Harford County Exec Responds to Baltimore County Education Forum Arrest
After a parent was arrested in Baltimore County during a public education forum last week, Harford County Executive David Craigissued a statement criticizing the program and encouraging officials to listen to their constituents.

3. SARC Event Raises $80K To Help Abuse Victims
Approximately $80,000 was raised this weekend to help abuse victims at the fourth annual Rising Above It Hot Air Balloon Family Fun Day.

4. Bel Air Sobriety Checkpoint Nets Three Arrests
A sobriety checkpoint in Bel Air Friday night and into Saturday morning resulted in the arrest of three motorists suspected to be driving under the influence. 

5. Harford County Public Library Honored For Innovation
The Harford County Public Library will receive an Innovator of the Year award from The Daily Record, the system announced in a news release on Tuesday.
