Ravens In Need of A New Linebacker Who Leads

Everybody wants to know who will replace Ray. There's a glaring hole on the team and only one peg to fill it. Do the experts know what they're talking about?

With the retirement of  middle linebacker Ray Lewis, the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens will have to replace him with a middle linebacker in this year's NFL draft. The question is who? Many mock draft experts have the Ravens selecting Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o or LSU linebacker Kevin Minter with the 32nd pick of the draft.

In my opinion, it is the biggest glaring hole on the team with not a lot of depth. And, linebackers are aplenty in this year's draft. If the Ravens want somebody who is solid in stopping running games in the NFL and uses his pure instincts, they'll choose Te'o. If the Ravens want somebody who is physical, can defend the pass and can tackle they'll choose Minter. Or perhaps it will be someone not mentioned. Or they end up keeping current linebacker Dannell Ellerbe who is slated to replace Ray if he is re-signed. He did a really nice job against the run and the pass last year. But ultimately, the decision isn't mine it is Ozzie Newsome's. As they always say come draft time and free agency, 'in Ozzie We Trust'.

Te'o would fit in very nicely with the raven's defense but an edge rusher who can get to the quarterback would be better. A run stopper can be found later in the draft.

Why not pick up Brian Uhrlacher for the interim?

The Ravens need to trade Suggs and Ngata for a number one draft pick, two number twos and a third rounder. Suggs and Ngata are falling apart.

I wouldn't mind him Steve..except now we need more players than just linebackers.
