Abingdon Resident Wins "Zookeeper for a Day Giveaway" from College Savings Plans of Maryland and the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore

The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore and the College Savings Plans of Maryland are pleased to announce the winner of the “Zookeeper for a Day Giveaway” and a College Savings Plans of Maryland account is Ms. Susan Coyle of Abingdon, Md., who won on behalf of her two-year old granddaughter Cadence.       

Ms. Coyle received a $529 Maryland College Investment Plan for her granddaughter, courtesy of the College Savings Plans of Maryland, which was presented by Joan Marshall, College Savings Plans of Maryland executive director. 

“At College Savings Plans of Maryland, our mission is to encourage Maryland families to start saving for their child’s college education as early as possible, and we thank the Maryland Zoo for being a wonderful partner in promoting this message,” said Joan Marshall.  “We are happy that Ms. Coyle now has a Maryland College Investment Plan in place and a foundation to build upon for her granddaughter’s future education.”

As “Zookeeper for a Day” Cadence and her guests won a special behind-the-scenes Zoo tour to meet and interact with Maryland Zoo keeper staff plus get exclusive access to animal care facilities. The family was also presented with an annual membership to The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.

The giveaway was part of a larger partnership between The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore and the College Savings Plans of Maryland, which also included a “529 Day Celebration” on June 1 during which the first 529 children to enter the Zoo received the special admission price of only $5.29.
