BGE Offers Open Houses for New Improvement Project

The open houses will be held throughout October in Fallston, Kingsville and Jarrettsville.

BGE has three upcoming open houses for Harford County residents to learn about BGE’s plans to enhance the safety and reliability of the area’s electric system through the Northeast Transmission System Improvement Project (NETSI).

As part of the NETSI project, BGE will be upgrading certain overhead transmission lines located within the existing transmission rights-of-way (ROW) that run between the Graceton and Conastone substations, the Graceton and Bagley substations, and the Bagley and Raphael Road stations.

This work will require construction within portions of the existing ROWs as well as tree and vegetation management. BGE plans to begin construction in 2014, and expects the majority of the work to be complete within three years.

To help keep the public informed about the project, BGE will host three open houses in Harford County:

When: Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 4-7 p.m.
Where: Fallston Library, 1461 Fallston Road

When: Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 4-7 p.m.
Where: Kingsville Fire Hall, 11601 Bellvue Ave.

When: Thursday, Oct. 10 from 4-7 p.m.
Where: Jarrettsville Library, 3722 Norrisville Rd.

BGE will also be enhancing the reliability of the transmission system by upgrading the Conastone Substation (located near Jolly Acres Rd. and Meredith Green Rd. in the Norrisville area), the Graceton Substation (located near Wheeler School Rd. and Jenkins Rd. in Pylesville), the Raphael Road Switching Station (located near Philadelphia Rd. and Raphael Rd. in Kingsville).

Prior to construction, you may notice BGE crews and contractors on the transmission ROWs conducting surveys and related work. In addition, BGE plans to perform unrelated, routine tree and vegetation maintenance along the transmission lines in the area during 2013.

As always, BGE will notify any directly affected customers in advance of any tree work with a door hanger that outlines more information about BGE’s program, as well as specific details about the work that BGE expects to perform on your property and a contact name and phone number.
