Cat Adoption Center Opens in Harford Mall

Rescue Me! is the region's first deluxe cat adoption center and boutique located in a shopping mall.

Harford Mall is about to get a whole lot cuter.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, The Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) will be hosting the grand opening of Rescue Me! at Harford Mall, the region’s first deluxe cat adoption center and boutique located in a shopping mall.

HSHC will be sharing space with Baron’s K-9 Country Store, which will be offering numerous health oriented pet foods, products and gifts for dogs and cats.

Rescue Me! will have a large selection of cats available for adoption on site.

According to the HSHC, Rescue Me! was conceived due to the sheer number of cats and kittens entering the shelter each year. Last year, HSHC took in over 3,000 cats and kittens, and has been just as busy this year. The spring and summer months are especially challenging because of the increased numbers of kittens and pregnant mothers entering the shelter.

“Some people may be reluctant to visit an animal shelter or they simply aren’t aware that we have a shelter on Connolly Road in Harford County,” says Mary Leavens, executive director in a release. “Our primary goal with this new endeavor is to offer a convenient adoption location, and to find forever homes for as many adoptable cats and kittens as possible.”

Adoption fees are as follows: $125 for kittens aged 8 weeks through 6 months; $95 for cats aged 7 months through 5 years; and $45 for cats 6 years and older.

Rescue Me! at Harford Mall is down the hallway near Sears and between Visionworks and Men’s Wearhouse & Tuxedo. The adoption center will be open Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
