The frog jumping contest was one of the most chaotic events Monday, much to the pleasure of the younger children who chased the loose amphibians.

Coming in all sizes, the frogs were given three jumps to get as far as they could. Their owners goaded them in any way they could that did not involve touching them.

Jenny said that she’d been doing the frog jumping contest “as long as I can remember.” She would not give the exact location of where she found her first-place frog—just that it came from near a golf course in Cecil County.

The Bel Air Independence Day Committee urges all participants to return their frogs () carefully to their natural habitats. The committee also abides by all Maryland Department of Natural Resources rules and regulations.
