Moores Mill Road Construction On Track for April Completion

The Department of Public Works said the project is about 40 percent complete and should be finished by April 2014.

The 10-month construction on Moores Mill Road is currently being completed on schedule, and work expected to wrap up in April 2014. 

According to the Department of Public Works, as of Tuesday, work is about 40 percent complete and the contractor is on schedule for an April 2014 completion date.

Moores Mill Road has been closed from US Route 1 to Southampton Road since June 12. The project involves roadway improvements along Moores Mill Road from US 1, an approximate length of 4,360 feet, and approximately 500 feet west of Broadway.

The road improvements include: full-depth pavement, full-depth base widening, wedge and level, resurfacing, curb and gutter, sidewalk, driveway tie-ins, drainage, erosion and sediment control. As well as traffic control, landscaping and other work.

Here’s a look at the work that has already been completed, according to the Department of Public Works.

  • Erosion and sediment control devices have been installed percent.
  • Installation of stormdrain pipes and stormdrain inlet structures is approximately 70 percent complete.
  • Approximately 50 percent of the new concrete curb and gutter is complete.
  • Approximately 50 percent of the road has the first layer of asphalt paving complete. This is referred to as the base layer.  Later in the project a second layer of asphalt paving, the surface layer, will be constructed.
