Snow in Forecast for Bel Air on Thanksgiving Eve

There will be little to no accumulation on roads, the National Weather Service said.

The rain that's been falling Wednesday morning will turn into a mixture of sleet and snow this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service, which reported that up to half an inch of snow may fall in Bel Air.

By mid-afternoon, the sleet-snow mixture will change to a light snow that will taper off by the evening, according to the weather service.

Areas east of and along Interstate 95 "will likely see snow accumulations from a dusting to up to an inch of snow by sunset" on grassy services, the weather service said, adding that snow is not expected to accumulate on roads, where temperatures remain above freezing.

The wintry mix comes as cold air pushes across the Baltimore-Washington region, including Harford, Baltimore, Carroll, Montgomery, Howard, Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties and parts of Virginia, the weather service reported.

The most accumulation is expected in southern Maryland, which the National Weather Service said could see up to an inch of snow.

Temperatures in Bel Air will be chilly Wednesday, with the forecast calling for a high of 42 degrees and a low of 26.
