Towson University Breaking Ground for New Bel Air Campus

The $28 million facility will be housed on the grounds of Harford Community College.

Exactly one week after Harford Community College celebrates its 2013 graduates, the college will celebrate a milestone of a different kind.

Towson University and Harford Community College will commemorate the groundbreaking of a Towson facility in Bel Air on May 30.

Towson President Maravene Loeschke will speak at the ceremony, which starts at noon, according to a news release. The $28 million building will be located on the Harford Community College campus, located at 510 Thomas Run Road in Bel Air.

The facility is slated for completion in July 2014, and between 140 and 200 students are expected to enroll for the fall 2014 class.

The construction of the 60,000 square foot facility will enable students to study two years at the community college level, and then finish their coursework toward a Towson University bachelor's degree, according to the release. Undergraduate programs offered include business administration, information technology, psychology and sociology.

In addition to classrooms, the building will feature wet labs, an auditorium and a bookstore.
