Underage Drinking Bust in Bel Air; Town and County Set to Receive More Funds

A bomb scare alert comes late and some news regarding food shopping in the area.

This week in the Bel Air area a Sheriff's Office raid yielded underage drinking while the town government received good news regarding funds for road repairs.

1. 3 Men Cited in 'Laughing Duck' Underage Drinking Bust

The Harford County Sheriff's Office  and for underage drinking. The house dubbed "The Laughing Duck" was being investigated by the county over the previous 10 days for its role in providing alcohol without a license and to minors.

2. Joe's Crab Shack to Join Wegmans, PNC Bank, in Boulevard at Box Hill

Two weeks after the new Wegmans opens at Box Hill, a  as the first restaurant in the Boulevard at Box Hill. The chain has 114 locations nationwide, but the two closest to the Bel Air area are in Gaithersburg and Wilmington.

3. Parents Say Bomb Scare Telephone Alert Came Late—if it Came at All

Information about Friday's bomb scare at Youth's Benefit Elementary School due to an outdated contacts list and faulty phone carrier service. Three automated messages were sent out between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., but some parents said they never received the calls.

4. House Bill Calls for Steering More Roads Money to Bel Air, Harford County

A proposal in the Maryland House of Delegates to make changes in Gov. Martin O'Malley's budget would  Harford County would receive for road repairs. Town officials Chris Schlehr and David Carey both said that the increase is a pleasant surprise and is good for the town and county.

5. Harvest Fare Opening Moved Back 2 Weeks

The Fallston location of the Harvest Fare Supermarket . Owner Jim Streett said the date was moved back so he can "get everything right" with his store, which replaces the ACME that closed earlier this year.
