You're Rude, Sir: 'Please Let Me Finish'

It was not easy getting a word in edgewise at Patterson Mill during Tuesday's public hearing to discuss Harford County roads.

Tempers flared Tuesday in a hallway outside cafeteria.

For instant updates, follow Bel Air Patch on Facebook and Twitter.

While Harford County officials briefed residents on improvements to Patterson Mill and Wheel roads, Cedarday residents got into a shouting match with Chief of Engineering Jeff Stratmeyer. Up for debate was the proposed extension of Cedarday Drive to Maryland Route 136.

County Executive David Craig's Chief of Staff Aaron Tomarchio and Director of Planning and Zoning Pete Gutwald later joined the fray.

The promising to share Cedarday resident concerns with Craig and the rest of the administration.

Hi, James, thanks for the comment. I hope you were able to check out the article that was the coverage for the entire meeting: http://patch.com/A-j4lR I interviewed Jeff Stratmeyer on video, aside from the intense arguments, and let him explain the county's side. I am also the only person who called Councilwoman Mary Ann Lisanti that night to let her tell her side of the story since she was heavily criticized. Additionally, there will be more coverage from this issue coming. I hope that explains things more clearly. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. -BG

Sounds like class envy to me! The developer built a development around a public road. I feel for the residents of Cedarday. The residents are worried about traffic, property values. Tired of those of you that cast disparaging remarks about anyone better off then you that comment. I am sure the man that paid over $1 Million for his house WORKED to achieve his goals and wasn't just lucky!!!! Best of luck to you at Cedarday........Where are you "Elected Representatives? You are or are not voting for a candidate because of ONE ISSUE......I see in governement a definate Pattern of WE KNOW BEST.

Let's stuff everyone into a hot, cramped hallway so we can say what we have to say and get out as soon as we can. Is this what they were thinking? Was this a last minute meeting? I never saw anything like this before, what a disgrace! I too, do not understand why a meeting of any kind would be held like this. I could not agree more with Mark writing, "maybe this reflects how the county perceives the importance of this issue to the citizens". Citizens deserve much better!

Welp, I just found this online and opened the link only because who it was...Jeff. #1 if any of you Harford Co citizens despise the round-a-bouts in our county, thank this guy. They are his "stamp" in the co. Id rather wait at a light. 90% of the people on the road cant negotiate or understand them so accidents increase. The co loves them because they are cheap maintenance, meaning more tax dollars for their pockets. They have someone "adopt" them, so they dont mow or maintain them, just replace the reflectors after every 18 wheeler tries to negotiate them and runs them over because they are too narrow. I attended a meeting once, about 2 years ago about a school. A citizen made a comment to him that he doesnt care about us because he was basically ignoring what he was saying. Mr Stratmeyer slammed his fists against the table got up and started walking towards the citizen saying; dammit i do care, your not going to talk to me that way, etc, etc, etc. After wards he did apologize, and tried making mends at the next meeting. Im sure these are not the only two incidences of him losing his cool. Im sure its hard keeping your composure, but he is a professional and needs too. Yelling at the people who pay his salary is not the correct approach, despite of how they are speaking towards him. I think govt as a whole forgets this....we pay their salary, they work for us. They are public servants...not the other way around. Just thought id share my experience with him.

Typical politician's behavior. If you don't like it.. tough!. That's how they feel about your opinion if you disagree with them.
