ATTENTION LADIES! Build the Body of Your Dreams In the Weight Room

A brief note on how women can burn fat and get that lean, feminine look by lifting weights! From your friendly neighborhood personal trainer. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have

Hey Everybody, just wanted to make one quick post and dispel the extremely common misconceptions about how women's bodies respond to lifting weights.

Almost every woman I have ever trained, once I started them out in the weight room on our first day of training, has said the same thing, "but I don't want to get bulky. I just want to get toned."

It's perfectly understandable as to why women feel this way. Most women head straight to the treadmill when they hit the gym while the big guys are busy pumping iron in the weight room and flexing in the mirror. Number one, I am not a fan of long steady cardio for weight loss for women but that's a subject for another post.

First things first, women do not have the testosterone to put on the muscle that guys do by lifting weights so that "bulky" look is NOT going to happen. Lifting weights will provide you with that "toned" look. Women who do not perform strength training on a regular basis and rely solely on long steady aerobic type training for the most part up wind up looking "skinny fat." This is a term that refers to women that may look small but have no definition.

The more lean muscle a woman builds, the more calories they will burn throughout the day. So ladies, don't feel like the only answer is torturing yourselves on the treadmill day after day. Why not hit the weight room and show the guys how it's done! Any questions feel free to post them in the comments section
